Apple Rolls Out First Phone With iTunes
The world's first mobile phone with iTunes has arrived.

by Krista Desens

CUPERTINO, CA  [Thursday Sep.8.2005]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- In what may be the hottest hookup of the year, cell phones and digital music players came together yesterday (September 7th), when Apple, Motorola and Cingular introduced the world's first mobile phone with iTunes.

Besides being a top of the line cell phone that includes camera and video record/playback functions, the new Motorola ROKR E1 is also a portable music player that can hold about 100 iTunes songs. You can listen to music through headphones included with the phone or out loud on the ROKR E1's speakers.

The ROKR E1 includes a menu interface that allows you to scroll through your playlists, select a song and play it. You can also view any accompanying album art on the phone's color display.

According to Apple, loading your music into the phone is a breeze. Just connect the ROKR E1 to your Mac or PC, and choose the songs you want to sync. If you prefer, you can let iTunes choose the songs for you by autofilling your phone with a random selection from your music library.

The new phone comes with video and picture messaging and is US and international capable, with a talk time of up to 6.5 hours. It's also small and light, weighing in at 3.77 ounces.

Other features of the ROKR E1 include Java for downloading games and applications, real music ringtones, instant and text messaging, and Bluetooth® wireless technology.

Cingular Wireless is the exclusive US carrier for the Motorola ROKR E1, and the phone retails for $249.99.
