Green Day, Gwen Stefani, Missy Elliott among 2005 nominees.
by Krista Desens ![]() MIAMI, FL. [Tuesday Jul.26.2005] /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Green Day, Gwen Stefani and Missy Elliott are among the top contenders for this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The nominees were announced yesterday (July 25) in Miami, where show will air live on August 28 on MTV. Rapper P. Diddy has been tapped to host. Green Day leads the list of nominees with eight nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Group Video and Viewer's Choice. Many of Green Day's nominations were for the band's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" video. Other artists hoping to take home the Video of the Year award include Coldplay for "Speed of Sound", Kanye West for "Jesus Walks," Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell for "Drop It Like It's Hot," and Gwen Stefani for "Hollaback Girl." Along with Video fo the Year, Stefani earned five additional nominations including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction and Best Editing. Missy Elliott also earned six nods, including Best Hip-Hop Video, for her new single "Lose Control." Other multiple VMA nominees include U2, Coldplay, Jennifer Lopez, the Killers, My Chemical Romance, Ciara, John Legend, Kanye West, the White Stripes, 50 Cent, Amerie, Destiny's Child, Eminem, Foo Fighters, Game, Gorillaz, Kelly Clarkson, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, Shakira, Simple Plan, Snoop and Usher.
